Izzy's Ballet Recital

Izzy had her very first ballet recital Saturday night at Galveston's Grand Opera House.  I was so worried that she was gonna freak out once she saw the stage.  Izzy's kind of wierd about "showing off"/putting on a show for you, but other times, it's "look at me, look at me!"

Luckily, all the girls did so well & they were all 1st years.  The show was Fight or Flight/Peter Pan.  Izzy's dance was called Flying Dreams.  Her outfit was so adorable...but reminded me of that multi-colored sherbert that I'm not super fond of.  :-)

I didn't take pics during the show but here are some snapshots after the show.

Our crew minus Maggie.  She was fast asleep at home.
Once we got home, Izzy decided she needed to retouch her makeup.  That's when Lady Gaga showed up!
MORE eyeshadow going across nose, connecting eyelids
and MORE lipstick.  My mom said she looked like Frida Kahlo!

Maggie ~ 10 months old

Maggie, caught after hiding behind the curtain
We had 2 big milestones this month & they both happened this weekend when Maggie turned 10 months old.
#1:  The tippy tippy tip of her bottom right tooth finally popped out!  I feel so bad for her because it just looks so painful.  It's gonna be funny to see Maggie with a mouth full of teeth.  Even more so when she finally gets some hair!  ;-)
#2:  Maggie's talking!  Mamamama (mommy), Dadadada (daddy), baba while waving (bye bye).

We think she's been talking for a little while now but it was never as constant & happen at the right time as it was this weekend.

Maggie weighs at least 22 lbs and is "walking" all over the place.  It seems like overnight she went from crawling, to standing once, to cruising ALL over the place.  She's even been brave enough to cross from 1 couch to the other reaching out with 1 hand to get herself there.

It's funny when Maggie's ready to get down from standing/walking.  She looks around behind herself to see where she can land & then PLOP, down she goes.  Maggie's getting better at putting her hands down first & easing down to the ground.  So maybe her little booty bruises will be gone soon from plopping down onto toys!

Maggie's eating habits have changed a little...she's gotten a little more particular about what she inhales.  Probably has to do with the new teeth though.

She LOVES her daddy & has actually started to cry when he leaves the room.  Are you gonna be a daddy's girl like Izzy?

I only have 2 months to plan your first birthday....and you know I've already started planning it!

Busy Busy Busy!

As the school year comes to a close, it always seems everything goes into fast forward mode...even if it's not school related!

Last Tuesday, Rebecca had an Athletics Banquet for all the girls who participated in sports this year.  Bec did Cross Country.  The banquet started at 7pm & we didn't get out until 10pm!  It was the 1st year they did this banquet so maybe next year they'll think about starting it a little earlier.

Friday night we had 2 - 1 year old birthday parties to go to.  Merritt (Brookes' son) and Evan (Lacy's son) were both born on the same day & both happened to plan their party for Friday night!  Their party times actually worked out perfectly because Merritt's party was from 5pm-6pm at the park & Evan's was at 6pm at their house.  Here's the 1 pic I took all night...
Bridgette 11m, Maggie 10m, Merritt 1 yr.
Saturday afternoon I took Bec & Izzy to see Mamma Mia! in Houston.  We LOVE the movie so we got the girls & me tickets to the Broadway show for Christmas.  First, we ate at The Hard Rock Cafe which was fine...good food, way overrated!  We walked back to the Hobby Center for our show where we spent too much on souvenirs.  I expected nothing less though taking those 2 to...anything.  :-)  The show was great & the girls had a blast.  Our seats were all the way at the top.  Actually, we weren't technically at the very top since the "accessible" row was behind us!  All the ushers pulled up chairs behind us to watch the show.  There went my plan to bust out my giant bag of candy I brought for the girls, right???  No.....we snuck it out anyway!

Saturday night was Muffy's 30th birthday party.  She had a "white hot" party, where everyone was to wear all white.  (Not a great fashion idea for me but I did it anyway.)  It was a great party with all of Bo's siblings, parents & Muffy's friends at Bo's parent's house.

Now that THAT weekend's over, this upcoming week is gonna be just as busy!  End of t-ball, ballet rehearsal & recital.  To be continued...

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was a great day spent with lots of family.  The girls made me a BIG rolled up card (lots of paper taped together at the seam & rolled up like a scroll).  Each girl had their own page where they wrote me a special note.  Then they got me the new Tina Fey book "Bossypants," which is hilarious so far!  After that, I got to do one of my favorite things...going grocery shopping alone.  :-)  Sounds crazy, but sometimes it's just easier to stroll the aisles lazily while NOT stuffing lunchables into kids mouths to keep them busy.  :-)

We went to Val's to have lunch with all the mom's in my family...my mom, sisters, Memaw, my Aunts & all of our hubbies & kiddos.  Everyone brought something so of course, we had lots of leftovers.  Yum yum!  Afterwards, we went to my dad's to visit with Kathy & Grandma.  We mainly hung out outside to let the kids play & watch Maggie swing.

My "real mom gift" came when I was heading to bed.  Backing up ALL the way to the morning, Izzy had slept with me in my bed Saturday night because Bo didn't have to work the next day.  So, I got up first & when Izzy got up later, she proudly announced that she made my bed.  Hooray!  Remind you, that a 4 1/2 year old just made a king size bed by herself, so I left it in the condition she made it.  No need to fix perfection!  ;-)  Anyway...so I pull back the covers to get in bed last night & I see 5 of her "babies" lined up against my pillow!  It was so cute & I actually laughed out loud.  (And if any of you have ever seen Izzy's bed, you'd know she sleeps with at least 20 babies on her bed.  They all have a spot & she knows when they're out of place.  I think she's trying to make my bed the same way.)

Having kids definitely has highs & lows....but it's the little things like that that really make you wonder how they don't have a little halo over their heads all the time.  :-)

I hope all you mom's had a great Mother's Day!

I didn't get any pictures of me & my kids, but here's one w/ Memaw & all of her great-grandkids!

Izzy's school program

Izzy's school had a program last week where the 3 & 4 year old classes performed "under the sea" songs.  Izzy's in the 3 year old class because she wasn't 4 by the time school started.  It's kind of hard to see, but their shirts have their hand prints on them making an octopus (purple), a fish (yellow) and coral (orange).  The program was really cute!  We love her school & are SUPER excited that Maggie will be joining the Mother's Day Out program there next year, when Izzy goes to the 4 year old class.
