Naples, FL

A room with a view...WOW!

We just got back Sunday from a trip to Naples, FL with all the Watson's, celebrating Nancy's 60th birthday.  16 of us flew out together on Thursday to meet up with Nancy & Larry who had left the day before.

It was Izzy & Maggie's first time to fly so I didn't know how that flight was gonna go.  Maggie was a lap baby & we sat in between Izzy & Bec.  Izzy was on the window & asked lots of questions.  She asked why the windows wouldn't open!  So I explained (as un-scarily as possible) what might happen if a window was open in a plane while it was flying.  Then, the cutest question of all!  She asked if those were the wings on the side of the plane.  I told her yes & then she asked, "Well, when are they gonna start flapping?"  :-)  Of course, everything with wings should flap to get up, right?!?!  So cute!  The flight was fairly uneventful...lots of snacks & dvd's to keep little ones busy.

We got to the hotel, got checked in & headed to the pool/beach.  This was Maggie's first time on a beach...but she prefers the pool.  Too much sand.  :-)
Lots of seashells to collect!

We celebrated Nancy's birthday Friday night with a family picture on the beach.  Everyone wore white & it was so cute to see all the kids running around as the sun was setting.  It was a whirlwind of picture taking so hopefully the pictures turned out well.

The rest of our time was spent relaxing on the beach or the pool.  There was a boardwalk that connected our pool to the beach, so it was very convenient to get from one place to the other.
Having lunch at our normal spot at the pool side cafe
The Watson's "main room" was pretty far away from ours, so we wheeled Maggie's crib down to their room for her afternoon nap.  Nanny &/or GG offered to watch Maggie & Merritt while they napped, so the moms/dads could stay down at the pool.

Packing up on Sunday to leave...
Don't forget me mom!!!

It was a great trip had by all!  I definitely missed my pool side drinks on Monday!  Thanks Nancy & Larry!!!

American Pickers (Lauren style)

We went to Austin last weekend to visit Carrie & Scott and had a great time doing nothing.  Well, I did nothing!  :-)  We let the girls play & let the babies get used to each other again.  It didn't take long...
Maggie & Julia
They're a year apart but they're the same size!
Later, we had Mexican food & Baskin Robbins.  I think they liked it!

Chocolate face Kate & Miss. Sassypants

Saturday morning Bo & Scott took Izzy & Kate to the local splash pad, then we went to Plucker's for wings & the most AWESOME bloody mary I've EVER had.  I know you're supposed to have beer w/ wings, but since there's not a Plucker's here, I couldn't pass up my opportunity to get that bloody mary.  Yes, they're that good.

Izzy & Kate watching Madagascar.
(I believe this was the only time they were still & quiet the whole weekend!)

But food wasn't the ONLY reason we went to Austin...

Carrie got new countertops put in her kitchen & was giving us her old ones.  Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm the cheapest person alive...besides my dad!   So when my friend offers me free countertops, I will gladly drag my family to Austin, have Bo rent a uhaul, load it up w/ all my pickin's & then drag is slooooowly back to Houston.  Hey, it's what we (I) do.  :-)

In my defense, I told Carrie they should keep the counters & make an outdoor kitchen for themselves.  She declined so I told her she should sell them, etc but then she offered them to us.  She probably didn't think we'd waste the time & gas & money to rent a uhaul to drag it all back, but free is free, so suck it!  :-)
The girls on our awesome trailer

Yup, we're officially those people you make fun of driving down the freeway!

Our Pickin's:
- 2 giant pieces of Silestone counters
- bar sink
- a cool new slide
- high chair
- baby exersaucer
- a few baby toys
- 3 trash cans
- cabinet mount for above mentioned trash cans

Bo strapped the heck out of our new treasures, so luckily NOTHING bounced out or broke!  Now, onto building OUR outdoor bar!

Where's Waldo?...I mean Izzy!

I know a lot of kids sleep with their favorite animal, baby doll, etc.  But when the "favorites" add up to about 20, is that normal?  ;-)  Surprisingly, she knows exactly where each one of these babies goes! (and no matter what the toy is, they're all "babies")  The day after I took this, Izzy said she needed to take some of her babies to the game room so she could have more room to sleep in her bed.  That hasn't happened yet!  :-)  My favorite is the barbie next to her.  That can't be comfortable to roll onto in the middle of the night!

Bec's last day of school

Bec finished 7th grade last Thursday.  Are we really 2/3 through Junior High?!?!  How old am I?  Oh yeah, not that old!  Oops!  :-)

The current 8th grade cheerleaders & next year's squad got to perform for the school right before the last bell.  As you can imagine, Bec was super excited!  The 8th graders performed first, then the newbies came in to finish it off.  Then Bec's squad did the dance they all had to try out with.

It was really cute & not to brag, but Bec was one of the best & bubbliest.  Let those spirit sprinkles fly!
Bec before the performance. (I cropped out the other girl)  :-)

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend was spent doing lots of work...not done by me. :-)  Bo & our neighbor Matt started extending a fence down the side of our driveway so we can eventually put in a gate across the driveway.  After that, it was a lot of yard work, watering & cleaning the grill...again, not done by me.

On Saturday, we went to The Watson's to celebrate Larry's birthday.  Since the day was spent lounging in the pool, I didn't grab my camera.

Sunday we had my family over for a BBQ.  I think it was Bo's first attempt at cooking a brisket & it turned out really good.  He attached a smoker to our pit so it was extra delicious.  Here are a few pics...none of the brisket though. ;-)

Val hula-hooping....yes, that's what we do for entertainment!
